We made the egg carton chick craft for Easter. Super easy and great way to recycle those egg cartons! Cut out the cartons, paint and glue on craft foam. Oh...fill with Easter eggs!

Mother's Day Flower Pot Reusing Yogurt Cups

For Mother's Day, we decided to reuse empty yogurt cups. We painted the cups with a terracotta paint. While we waited for the cups to dry, the children made pom poms out of yarn scarps. We then used green florist wire for securing the pom poms. Placed a cube of clay in the center of the cup and inserted the flowers. Happy Mother's Day to all!

Newspaper Puffy Trees

To celebrate the first day of Spring we are making trees. The children have been painting green squares on newspaper in preparation.
They painted the TP rolls brown for the trunck. After decorating the folage of their tree we used a template to cut out the top, glued and inserted on to the TP roll.

Plastic Bottle Cap Art

As a group activity, I decided to give the children a jug full of plastic bottle tops and some glue. They began by making circles and ended up with a colorful abstract art work.

Carnival Cardboard Giant Eye Glasses

 Instead of the usual masks for Carnival we made giant eye glasses. We cut them out of cardboard and then painted them. We decorated them with some paint and glitter. We punched out holes for the children to see out of and added string for securing them to their heads.

Cardboard and Crepe Paper Valentines

               

I cut out heart shapes out of cardboard. Cardboard proved to be too thick for first graders to cut out on their own. We traced the heart on to colored printer paper cut it out and glued it to the cardboard. The children made crepe paper balls and glued them on to the heart. Made two hole and strung white satin ribbon and made a bow (leave some slack for hanging).

Cork Santa Christmas Ornaments

We painted the corks half flesh tone and half red color. We used felt for the hat and beard, added glitter and a face. Ready to be placed on the family Christmas tree!

Outdoor Tree Ornaments with Recycled Material

My first graders and I accepted the challenge of making ornaments for our school pine tree. We decided to use yogurt containers glued together to make ornaments. We reused some packing plastic binding to make stars. The results were great and weather proof!

Chestnut Doll Craft

To further our Fall Crafts we decided to use chestnuts. The children glued and decorated their dolls using and recycling; cardboard, newspaper and yarn. Very creative.

TP Bats and Hand Print Wings

This year for Halloween we are making Bats. The children painted TP rolls Black. Then they traced their hands onto black paper and cut them out. They glued and decocated their bats and took them home to spook their parents!

TP Roll and Cork Sheet Pencil Holders

             

Instead of buying gifts for my group on Children's Day, I decided to have them make their own pencil holders. We Reusing TP rolls (industrial size) which we painted  on the inside with acrylic paint. Next, we used cork sheets which we glued to the outside  then decorated with fun foam.

Plastic Bottle Birdhouse Using Wine Corks

                  

To celebrate Spring we decided to make a birdhouse. The kids took a plastic water jug and cut off the bottom half. We trimmed and glue the base back on to the jug. We cut wine corks in half and into circles and glued the cork an onto the jug. We made the roof out of some cork sheets we had from another project. Keep posted, we will be making these with other containers!!!

Cardboard Picture Frame Craft

Decided to give my group frames made of cardboard for decorating. They preceded to decorate their frames using stripped cardboard, cut-outs and cork. They used to two methods of painting: acrylic paints or spray paint. We also made the back and stand for the frame out of cardboard. These were a hit with the with the parents!.

Cardboard and Cork Valentine Hanging Craft

We decided to make a colorful Valentine using cardboard and wine corks as our main materials. Cut up the wine cork and made circles and rectangle shapes. Cut out cardboard and painted the heart shapes bright colors. Strung them up in any combination and offered them to the parents! Very Springy.
