Cardboard Tribal Halloween Masks


We made tribal masks out of cardboard and painted them. This craft lends itself to Halloween, Carnaval or a tribal theme. It is fun seeing how creative each child can be.

Leaf Craft - Newspaper and Cardboard

Mikado Game made with Skewer Sticks



We made our own mikado game out of skewer sticks (some were washed and reused). The children had fun painting and creating their own game. This was part of a lesson on making your own toys.

Cork Sheet and Twig Door Hanging



A friend of mine gave me some old cork sheets.  I remember seeing a great idea at: http://crafts.kaboose.com/leafy-door-hanger.html We decided to make our door hanging using the cork which we painted. The kids glued the leaves onto some string and tied them to a twig. They were a great hit!

Egg Carton Game - Ball Toss


For the summer we decided to make our own games out of recycled materials. We started by making a toss game out of an egg carton. We made the toss ball out of an old sock. Painted the cartons bright colors, each color worth different points, white means you win and black is game over.

Yarn and Sticks Eye of God


We had some leftover yarn so we decided to continue with yarn crafts. We recycled some sticks by     taking apart an old place mat! Some of the kids added feathers we had left form another craft.

Cardboard Looms and Yarn Craft


We made wall hangings with cardboard looms and some yarn pieces. We asked the moms and grand-moms to please donate scraps of yarn. Once done, we inserted a twig on top. Then we tied off the ends and added old beads and shells.

Egg Carton Flowers

Egg carton cups, magazine rolls and a cereal box. We cut the egg carton cups, rolled magazines and cut the flower bases out of the cereal boxes. 
Painted the egg carton cups and back of the cereal boxes in spring colors.


My kids made the flowers assembly line style and gave bouquets to the ones they love.

Toilet Paper Roll Tree Craft

Painted the TP rolls and inserted a green tree top. 
Put out our scraps box (scraps from our other crafts)  for them to use and here we have it!  Quite a creative forest. If you look hard, you will see tiny nests in the trees!

Reused Butcher Paper Mural

We were about to throw away an old mural we painted and decided to give it a new form. We outlined large leaves and made a very colorful autumn tree!

Pencil Holder out of Old Magazines




We reused/recycled old magazines to make these pencil holders. 
We rolled the magazine sheets around a wooden kabob skewer. Next, we pasted the magazine rolls on to old tp rolls. The bottoms are made by reusing cardboard and then pasting magazines on top. Only thing we had to buy was the glue!
