Cloth-Cork Christmas Card Craft





For our Christmas cards we decided to use scraps of cloth and cork sheet. First we glued the cloth to cereal box card. We cut out tree shapes and glued to card stock. We punched out snowflakes from recycled copy paper and glued them to our card stock. We used old cork sheet to cut out the trunks. For a festive touch we used glitter glue for the garland.

Popsicle Stick Snow Flake Ornament





Couple of years ago bought some craft popsicle sticks on sale. This year the kids decided to make snowflakes and the sticks came in handy. The kids glued them together, painted them white and glittered them all up! Happy Holidays to all!

Pine Cone Christmas Tree Craft


This is out take on the popular pine cone Christmas tree. We painted our tree  green. Glued bits and pieces we had and sprinkled it with glitter. We made a tree stand by wrapping a piece of felt around a recycled cat food tin! Our parents loved them.

Chestnut Autumn Craft



For Autumn it seemed appropriate to make something with chestnuts.We reused ice-cream cups we had washed and saved in the Summer. With fabric scarps we made up our chestnut dolls in very fashionable gowns! We painted on lips, added googly eyes and yarn hair. 
Some children made dolls of themselves!

Tree Silhouettes Circles



We decided to make something spooky and different for Halloween. My group voted on making tree silhouettes against a full moon. The children really enjoyed the using different hues of the same color. Gave us a chance to use all the paints we had left from last year!

Aquarium Art Using Cardboard and Styrofoam




This Summer, the children took a large piece of cardboard and painted the ocean floor. They took more cardboard and designed and then painted all types of marine life. The ocean floor was painted onto some styrofoam foam rescued from the bin. Some of the fish  were pasted on to skewer sticks for a 3D effect.

Pointillism Using Cotton Swabs

 

Blank piece of paper some paints and cotton swabs! The children were not allowed to pre-design anything. They had to create a picture using only dots. They loved the challenge.

Seascape Reusing Cardboard and Cereal Boxes


 


We painted seascapes on recycled cardboard. Next step, we cut-out starfish using recycled cereal boxes and painted starfish. When the starfish dried we sprinkled them with alphabet pastas onto white glue. When the starfish dried we glued them onto the seascapes. The pasta gave a great textured effect on the starfish.

Owls Out of TP Rolls





We had a demonstration at our school involving birds of prey. The owls were one of the children s favorite. We made owls to take home out of TP rolls, paint and fabric scraps. The kids had a hoot making them.

Plastic Bottle Bug Carrier




To house their bugs, some of the children made bug carriers by using large plastic juice bottles. We cut out a square, hot glued some mesh and made a frame out of fun foam.

Cereal Box Easter Hen

Easter Fabric and Yarn Baskets



For Easter  we made nest baskets out of fabric and yarn pieces. We ripped strips of fabric and wove them around a cardboard template. For a fluffy effect we wove in some yarn. Ready for Easter Eggs!

Bean and Pasta Mosaics




My kids painted reused cardboard (rescued from the trash bin)  two-toned and created these landscapes. Some decided to paint the cardboard all black and make a space themed painting.

Paper Valentines


We made paper Valentines out of painted butcher paper (bulletine board paper). We punched holes all around and then laced them with left over wrapping ribbon. We left one side open for stuffing with recycled computer paper! They ended up looking like heart pillows.
